Development: 1805-1811 Feltham Rd

This is the response to Saanich from our community association regarding the proposed Aryze/Telus development at 1805-1811 Feltham Rd.

We discouraged this project for a number of reasons. A major one being substandard parking provision, a violation of Saanich’s own bylaws.

Concerns Regarding Proposed Residential Building

Density

The proposed building has a very high density and exceeds the permitted height, blocking sunlight for neighboring houses and the street.

Parking

There are not enough parking spots proposed for the residents and visitors, which will lead to more cars parking on nearby streets.

Street Safety, Infrastructure, and Community Amenities

The increase in density will lead to more traffic requiring additional community amenities and safety measures.

Official Community Plan (OCP) and Gordon Head Local Area Plan (LAP)

The application does not comply with the Official Community Plan and the local area plan.

The Pathway

There are concerns about the proposed development affecting a well-used pathway and community amenities.

Gordon Head’s Housing Mix

There are concerns about the excessive number of apartments and condos being built, with a preference for a well-designed townhouse development.
